The Stelvio Pass connects the Alta Valtellina and the Alto Adige and the area is one of the largest summer skiing area in the Alps. You climb between 2760 and 3450 meters of altitude, which can be reached by cable car, the futuristic Passo Stelvio climb to Trincerone, the flagship station.
Unlike the majority of Alpine glaciers, the facilities remain open in the afternoon from 8.00 until 17.00, allowing skiing for the whole day when temperatures permit. You can ski from the end of May to November, while the pass is closed in winter, because of adverse conditions making the road impassable.
