The Via Lattea is an international ski resort of 5 peaks, Sestriere, Sauze d'Oulx, Sansicario, Cesana, Claviere and Montgenèvre in France. There are more than 200 pistes, all connected by lifts for a linear extension of over 400 km of pistes, mostly covered by snow canons. It ranges from 1350 m. altitude of 2800 m. in Cesana at the top of the Motta, which offers a wonderful view on all the surrounding mountains allowing skiers to enjoy the vastness and beauty of the area.
Vialattea is synonymous with big spaces, expanses of snow illuminated by the sun, tracks that combine scenic villages of huts with modern updates with all the comfort and entertainment you'd expect today .The vastness and diversity of the area can satisfy the most demanding skiers, thanks to the long and difficult pistes, and those for the first for first time skiers.
At Sestriere you can take an illuminated run on Giovanni Alberto Agnelli, where you can challenge the great champions of the World Cup. As for daredevils, lovers of snowboard and ski-cross, there is a snow park located on the Hill in the central area.
Having organized countless sporting events of international significance, the Ski World Cup (since 1967), the Snowboard World Cup and World Championships of Alpine Skiing'97, the area of the Via Lattea was the centre for the XX Olympic Winter Games Torino 2006.

On 19 April 2009 will be disputed, the 17th edition of the Trofeo Mezzalama, beginning at Breuil Cervinia, through the Val d'Ayas and ends in Gressoney Valley. A marathon with classic equipment, whether international, starting in line open to teams of three athletes / and roped. A challenge along a difficult path that winds especially over three thousand meters, passing in two even four thousand. The pre-enrollment for the year 2009 came to 397 teams, compared with 260 two years ago to 115, 2005. Each team has three athletes. A contract is regulated by FISI (Italian Federation of Winter Sports) and the 'ISMF (International Ski Mountaineering Federation).
