Set at 1890 meters altitude Solda is considered to be Siberia in Tyrol and is surrounded by at least 10 peaks above 3000 including the Ortles, Cevedale, Grand Zebrù, making it an incredibly fascinating landscape.
For alpine skiing the resort offers 42 miles of trails ranging from 1900 my 3250 m. The most notable pistes are an easy and scenic route off the track, and the Kanonenrohr, a black 2.5 kilometers that is very steep and narrow with breathtaking views.
The Ortles with 14 three thousand foot peaks offers much to lovers of ski mountaineering and skiing in fresh snow with an exceptional panorama. There is also a circuit for cross-country skiing (7km) and a track for sledding (0.5 km). At Madritsch Refuge there is a fun park with boxes, rails, and rainbox kickers. A halfpipe is available in the area of the glacier.
The area is known as the kingdom of yacks by Tibetans who, having been imported by Reinhold Messner, ensure an Apres-ski with an exotic touch.
