The Natural Arena of Carinthia, formed by valleys Gailtal,Gitschtal,Lesachtal and lake Weissensee, has finally been connected with Italy through a new gondola that takes skiers from Pontebba in to the Nassfeld Pass. With Italy it has access to one of the best ski areas in Austria, with 100 kilometers of very different tracks and 30 ski lifts. With one of the longest ropeways in the Alps (Millennium Express) to Gailtal climbing up to the heart of the area ski before arriving at the Carnia piste (7.6 km). Once a week this becomes one of the longest floodlit pistes in the world.
The eighth edition of Lussarissimo, will be on stage Friday 22 and Saturday 23 March in Tarvisio. Two days of racing that will arrive with the race mountainering skiing at night, which this year will also be open to those who want to climb in altitude with snowshoes. Saturday morning will be up to the athletes of Parallel giant slalom, the world's longest, and on the evening of Saturday there is the spectacular sprint ski mountaineering.

In March the Sella Nevea ski school offers three unique events and to discover the freeride in nature. Aimed at those who already have a little ski off-piste experience, participation in events aims to increase knowledge and awareness of the freerider but will be also a unique experience for sleeping in an igloo made in the snow with his own hands.

Two cabins of the gondola that takes skiers from Bovec towards Sella Prevala and that makes it possible to connect with Sella Nevea, fell tumbling to the ground after that, probably because of the wind, the ropes have rolled off the pulleys that supported the cabins . Fortunately, the cabins were empty and there were no casualties.

The circuit will be completed in early 2012 in Sella Nevea April 29 with Adrenaline Freeride Canin because of the few snowfalls this season. The finalists are allowed athletes who achieved at least a useful result in the qualifying stages and the riders that the organizers have given wild cards available, for a total of 45 competitors. The prize money of 10,000 euros will be provided in the technical material.
Forni di Sopra, a new lift and investments in the Varmost area

The emotions of the Sky Race Friulian Dolomites are coming back. The World Heritage Committee has officially entered the Dolomites in the list of Universal Heritage of Humanity UNESCO. A decision on the nomination submitted by the Italian government was taken unanimously by the 21 members of the UNESCO committee, meeting in Seville.
