Enclosed by Val Maira to the south, the Po Valley to the north and the Guil Valley to the west and dominated by its group of Monviso, Varaita offers a small ski area made up of 20 km of slopes and approximately 5 km of Nordic skiing slopes.
The district is characterized by the stations Pontechianale, Bellino, Casteldelfino, Sampeyre and Valmala, with several pistes above the line of the forest. The downhill slopes of Pontechianale, at 2400 meters, are quite challenging, while those of Sampeyre Bellino and are more suited to beginners and intermediate skiers.
During the summer the valley enjoys it's greatest tourist success, especially in the province of Cuneo. In neighboring valleys you can find some climbing walls at the amphitheater of the castle and Martinet, in the Valley Chianale.
