With its 2275 m altitude, the Plan de Corones is a characteristic mountain, with a wide band of forest at the base that thins upward to a majestic plateau. The top is almost flat with a fantastic 360-degree panorama of the surrounding mountains. With 90 km of downhill slopes, it is considered by many to be the most complete and fascinating area of South Tyrol.
The area of Plan de Corones, Val Pusteria is situated near the Val di Marebbe and includes 15 Locations: Brunico, the Plan-S. Vigilio, Olang, S. Lorenzen, Kiens, Perca, Falzes, Rasen Antholzer, Terento, Monguelfo, Taisten, Anterselva, the Gsies, Gais-Villa Ottone and San Martino in Badia. The area is an excellent coprehensive resort, equipped with 31 modern ski lifts that, three different slopes and reaches the summit. The area also has an excellent artificial snow system, capable of ensuring the snow cover until late spring.
Since the 2006/2007 season there has been a new eight-seater cable car "Piculin" that connects the area with the Alta Badia. The new facility, on the south-west of Piz de Plaies San Vigilio, has its valley station, Piccolino, in Val Badia, 1km away from San Martino. From here, using the ski bus, you can reach the slopes of the Sella Ronda.
