Mottarone, situated between Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta at 1491 m altitude, is considered one of the most beautiful natural balconies of the Piedmont region and beyond.
Although not among the highest peaks of the Alps, its rounded summit dominates over a landscape that is unique to say the least; from the Maritime Alps to Monte Rosa massif, with imposing Swiss peaks, passing through the Po Valley and the region of the Seven Lakes (Orta, Maggiore, Mergozzo, Biandronno, Varese, Monate, Comabbio).
The ski resort can be reached either by car or via a cable car that starts from the hamlet of Carciano Stresa, and leads to the summit of the mountain itself.
The district offers 25 kilometers of slopes, especially suitable for beginners. There is a more technical track, known as the' Alpe Courts, which starts from the top of Mottarone and winds for 2.5 km before arriving at a scenic area on the seven lakes.
The resort also boasts a good snow-making system, able to cover 5 km of slopes.
