Rumors confirmed for the grand finale of the Tour de Ski: change with classic sprint and mass start towards Cermis

Indiscrezioni confermate per il gran finale del Tour de Ski: si cambia con sprint in classico e mass start verso il Cermis
At the FIS congress in Cavtat-Dubrovnik, the official format revolution has arrived: in Val di Fiemme it will be a show from January 3rd to 5th 2020
It is an important change, to bring more attention and centrality around the Tour de Ski. And so, as we had anticipated a couple of weeks ago (https://www.neveitalia.it/sport/scinordico/scidifondo/news/il-tour-de-ski-verso-il-cambiamento-ulvang-conferma-partenza- in-line-towards-the-cermis-and-ranking-sprint), the New Year's horse event that should represent the highlight of the cross-country skiing season, carried out in a radical way especially for the final days that will be lived in Italy. The two big changes are the introduction of a sprint in classic technique, which will be held on the penultimate day, Saturday 4 January 2020, and will above all serve to ensure that the specialists do not withdraw from the competition prematurely, and on Sunday 5 a Final Climb towards the Alpe Cermis which will no longer see a start at intervals, but a mass start. The program in Val di Fiemme will therefore open on Friday 3 January with a classic mass start of 10 km for women and 15 km for the male sector; after ratification at the FIS congress in Croatia, the calendar will be made official at the autumn meeting in Zurich, with the Fiemme organizers who would like to anticipate the sprint on Friday. "Summing up the events regarding Nordic combined and jumping scheduled for the following week, we will have 12 World Cup races in 11 days - the president of the Fiemme Ski World Cup, Bruno Felicetti expresses his satisfaction - Furthermore, being able to add the sprint to the two stages of the Tour de Ski, is the culmination of a dream as it is going to complete a competition that will bring the best specialists and our Federico Pellegrino to the Val di Fiemme. We will work with the FIS to make the final mass start exciting, but certainly it is a recognition of the Val di Fiemme's abilities ".
