Two blue on the podium at the German championships: Vittozzi and Sanfilippo behind Herrmann, Lukas Hofer 7
Rallying in Ruhpolding from the beginning of the week, the biathlon national team's competitors took advantage of it for a nice confrontation with some rivals thinking of winter. As expected, in fact, the Azzurri took part from the first day at the German championships in the Bavarian town.
And in the women's race, Lisa Vittozzi and Federica Sanfilippo immediately got on the podium in the 6.7 km in roller skis (without polygon), respectively in 2nd and 3rd place behind an unbeatable Denise Herrmann, who preceded the sappadina of 17 seconds, with Sanfilippo instead distanced almost a minute.
At 4th and 5th place Vanessa Hinz and Franziska Hildebrand, while Dorothea Wierer did not take part in the test, despite being in retreat with her companions, as well as Irene Lardschneider; Nicole Gontier concluded 18th and the young Michela Carrara 26th.
In the men's race, Lukas Hofer came in 7th at the end of the 10.4 km planned (again, without a polygon). There was great balance, with the success going to Philipp Nawrath ahead of Horn and Hollandt, separated by 10 "6 and 11" 5 respectively. Hofer finished at 24 "4" from the winner, ahead of the other Azzurri present in Ruhpolding, starting with Dominik Windisch (12th), passing through Giuseppe Montello (14th), Thomas Bormolini (18th) and the various young people who were tested, namely Mattia Nicase, Saverio Zini, Daniele Cappellari, Thierry Chenal and Simon Leitgeb.
The second day of the German championships, again with the Azzurri in the race, is scheduled for Saturday with the mass start before Sunday's closing with the relay.
