Perla del Canton Vallese, racchiusa al centro di ben 38 cime sopra i 4mila metri (praticamente il 33% di tutte le cime sopra i 4mila metri delle Alpi), Zermatt (1616 metri) è regina delle nevi oltre che uno dei comprensori più strutturati a livello internazionale. Per di più il cuore “green” di Zermatt, garantisce neve, montagna e soprattutto aria pulita. Il villaggio alpino arroccato sul Monte Rosa e su cui domina il Matterhorn (ovvero il Monte Cervino per gli svizzeri) infatti è completamente pedonale e raggiungibile via treno o con romantiche carrozze, oltre che con meno suggestivi veicoli elettrici. Le macchine possono arrivare solo fino a Täsch, a 5 km da Zermat che poi è raggiungibile con un treno navetta della Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn ogni 20 minuti. La ski area va dai 1616 metri di Zermatt fino a quota 3883 metri del piccolo Cervino e copre, con 52 impianti, 360 km di piste tra cui i 21 km che costituiscono il tracciato più lungo di tutta la Svizzera e che dai 2886 metri del Piccolo Cervino arrivano proprio al centro del borgo attraverso il ghiacciaio del Plateau Rosà. Per gli snowborder il “Gravity Park”, dove si allenano gli olimpionici, è un richiamo irresistibile.
D’inverno Zermatt è un sogno per tutti gli sciatori, dai principianti agli amanti del free ride, ma anche d’estate Zermatt è una destinazione da non perdere grazie ai 70 km di sentieri escursionistici tra boschi e pascoli e che offrono scenari particolarmente incantanti sulle cime.

Alpine Crossing, the new connecting cableway between Zermatt and Cervinia

It will be called "Alpine Crossing" the 3S cableway which in 2021 will connect the stations of Testa Grigia and Matterhorn glacier paradise (Piccolo Cervino) throughout the year. An agreement has finally been reached between the Swiss Foundation for Landscape Protection (Fp) and Zermatt Bergbahnen SA (Zbag), the company that manages the lifts.

From 1 to 3 February 2019 the second edition of the Winter Golf Cup took place in Crans-Montana, the first golf tournament played on the snows of French-speaking Switzerland. After the success of the first edition, this second edition sold out in all 3 days of the event: more than 170 amateur and professional golfers competed in a magical winter setting.
