Ice Music CP75120
The igloo theater built at 2,600 meters above sea level on the Presena Glacier at Passo Tonale, which hosted the Ice Music Festival, closes the season with a flourish, selling out all the 52 concerts planned. A program that included internationally renowned musicians who performed with ice instruments. A bet won for the creator of those instruments, the American sculptor Tim Linhart, and for the organizers of the event.
"The numbers recorded in this edition have positively surprised us" commented Luciano Rizzi, president of the APT of Val di Sole. "The response of the public has gone beyond our expectations. It is a sign that those who know how to take original roads are rewarded. In the past three months, over 8 thousand people have climbed into our Mercedes-Benz Bonera Ice Dome and taken part in the shows. All 52 concerts sold out. Both those on the Thursday of the Ice Music Orchestra, and those of the weekend that saw the presence of guest artists, such as Naomi Berrill, Alborada String Quartet and Cristina Donà ”. “Proposing the different artists to experiment with ice instruments was a bet. I am happy that great names of music, in its various languages, Italian and international, have accepted, probably attracted by the possibility of playing in such a particular context. Certainly for those who live with music, such an experience will be difficult to forget. And I'm even happier that the musical result has been so appreciated by the public ”observes Corrado Bungaro, artistic director of the festival. But the attention to high altitude music did not stop only for the guests who chose the Pontedilegno-Tonale area for their skiing holidays. The originality and innovation of the Ice Music Festival have in fact also attracted the attention of the media, with numerous quotes also in international media, such as CNN, ABC and Al Jazeera. "The media coverage that was reserved for this initiative - concludes Michele Bertolini, managing director of the Pontedilegno-Tonale Consortium - was an additional opportunity to introduce the world to the natural wonders of our area and undoubtedly had a relapse positive in terms of presence in our receptive tissue. In fact, more and more, those who choose a location for their winter holidays on the snow are attentive to the services it offers, both in terms of slopes and outside, in après-ski. It is through choices such as this of the Ice Music Festival that competition is won and the public loyalized ”.
