White Pod: ecovillage with an exclusive private ski slopes

FOTO: Villaggi di White PodLes Cerniers, a location in the heart of the Swiss Alps, stands an eco-village consists of 15 curious domed building that almost blend in with its surroundings: his name is White Pod. Structures accommodation are able to accommodate two people and accessible only on skis or a snowmobile.
Despite the spartan appearance are equipped with all the amenities: comfortable beds, bathrooms, wood stove and addiritura internet connection. The resort caters to guests looking to stay original and quality, surrounded by nature and in a context of total sustainability.
The particular structure of the "pod", as they are called domes, keeps the snow covering them completely the effect of creating a "hole" from which only comes out the chimney. At the heart of the village is the "House-Pod", a wooden chalet in 1820, where guests have breakfast and can access the two relaxation areas with Finnish sauna and Japanese bath. The icing on the cake for guests are the 7 miles of ski slopes for the exclusive use of tourists, who are spread over a vertical drop of 700 meters and served by two lifts.
The village is an oasis of tranquility in which apply strict rules to live an exclusive holiday in contact with unspoilt nature. Inside the utmost attention is paid to limit the consumption of precious resources like water and energy, reduce waste, promote the use of renewable resources and environmental conservation awareness among the customers.
Within Pod no electricity, heating is provided by lighting stoves and oil lamps. The furniture is made with recovered materials and the wood used comes exclusively from certified forests in Switzerland. The water comes instead from an underground spring, and is heated by solar energy.
Among the activities offered to guests are snowshoeing or dog sledding, cross country skiing and alpine skiing, tobogganing, paragliding and, to relax after a day of sport massage performed by trained personnel.
For this project truly innovative, the village, which is a member of the "Luxury Camps & Lodges of the World", in 2005 he was awarded the "World Responsible Tourism Award".
