Il centro di Sölden si trova a 1.368 mdi altitudine, nel distretto di Imst e nella Ötztal Tirolese. Questa località è nota per la gara di apertura della Coppa del mondo di Sci Alpino, lo slalom gigante che si svolge sul ghiacciaio Rettembach ogni fine ottobre. E' la prima località sciistica in Austria ad offrire piste sui tre tremila a cui si accede grazie a moderne funivie, il Gaislachkogl a 3.058 m, il Tiefenbachkogl a 3.249 m, lo Schwarze Schneide a 3.340 m.

"It doesn't get much better than this," said Tourist Office Director Andreas Steibl. "We are proud and excited to announce this exceptional star for the closing concert of this exceptional winter season.

It will reopen at the end of Septembre Sölden, in the Ötztal valley, Tyrol's winter holiday in paradise less than two hours away from Bolzano, which has 34 lifts connected to each other by 146 km of slopes, partially located on the two glaciers of Rettenbach and Riesenferner. The Tyrolean town for the 2011/12 season offers a new ski-trip to be addressed in a day, called "Big 3-rally".
