Sounds and voices to echo back the White War atthe Paradise Pass, in a museum built in a tunnel excavated in granite at 2,600 meters from the soldiers involved in the First World War.
The museum allows you to relive all the difficulties of a war fought at high altitudes of mountain peaks during the cold winters of the beginning of last century. The'accesso the museum is free and is located On the edge of the gondola to the glacier Presena.
As you walk the 60 meters of the tunnel, un''installazione offers sound bursts of machine guns and very evocative echoes of bombings that bear the visitor back in time, when these walls were used as shelter from frost and fire. Near the museum you can always visit a second tunnel dug during the Great War, where you can see the guard positions and watch once used by soldiers.
Here, where we meet today in Lombardy and Trentino, once was the border between the Kingdom of Italy and the Austro-Hungarian war material found in the Vermilion quest''area Emilio Serra is part of this new museum where are also illustrated panels, each of which is equipped with an interactive device to be activated by button to hear voices and sounds related to war at high altitude: the hiss of the wind, an accordion that gladdens the rest of the day after soldiers in the trenches, but also the proclamation of the Emperor Francis Joseph and the order to evacuate Vermilion.
All''interno bulletin boards placed in the tunnel at 2600 m. Unfortunately we have noticed a lot of condensation forming. We hope that the direction of the museum will take appropriate measures as soon as possible, otherwise the remnants of war, most of rusty iron, will not be very soon ...
The gallery is located 50 meters from the arrival of the gondola Paradise, on the right. The route is marked by some panels positioned at both ends of the lift. The recovery work has been possible thanks to the town of Vermilion, which was active in obtaining funding through a regional project and were executed by architect Daniel Bertolini and Sharp Image Cles who oversaw the technical side, the graphics and multimedia installations. The gallery is broad and light, and is accessible to all, provided they have adequate clothing and footwear, and will be inaugurated Sunday, August 21 during the traditional festival of brotherhood wanted from climbing and Emilio Serra Kaiserjäger Kurt Steiner 34 years ago.
The gallery "Sounds and voices of the White War" complete an interesting path, all reported, which also includes the village of Monticelli and military port on the ridge where they are preserved stretches of trenches, artillery and the pitches which also has a table of guidance to help the visitor to navigate the surrounding peaks ranging dall'Adamello-Presanella Ortler-Cevedale. This new production is on another path that affects the Lombardy side by side and to reach the village of Montozzo Lagoscuro Pass, through the Bleis and rising to Passo Tonale and Paradise and then to the parent company of Dosso and the Path of flowers, with the catwalks recently opened.
